Call Screening

Let us answer the numbers you don’t know

Unknown caller? Who’s Calling answers first, asks who they are and why they’re calling, then sends their response to your phone as text. You find out what they want without ever being put on the spot.

  • Your saved contacts ring through normally
  • Unknown callers are asked their name and reason for calling
  • Read the caller’s response as a transcript on your phone
  • Call back, ignore or block after you know what they wanted
Exactly what happens

Four simple steps between the caller and you

Who’s Calling puts a screening step in front of unknown callers, while people you already know continue to ring you normally.

Step 1

An unknown number calls

Someone who isn’t in your contacts rings your phone.

Step 2

Who’s Calling answers

The caller is told they’ve reached a call-screening service and is asked who they are and why they’re calling.

Step 3

You read their response

What the caller said during screening is transcribed and delivered to your phone.

Step 4

You decide what happens next

Call back if it makes sense, ignore it, or block the number if you don’t want it again.

The difference it makes

Know what they want before you decide

A genuine message is useful. A suspicious message can reveal the warning signs before anyone has a chance to pressure you.

1
A genuine caller

The message gives you context

A surgery, garage, school or delivery company can simply explain why they called. You can read it in your own time and call back if you need to.

  • See the caller’s number and time
  • Read what they said during screening
  • See verified business information when available

2
A suspicious caller

The warning signs are easier to spot in writing

Pressure, urgency and unusual payment instructions are easier to assess when you can read the caller’s own words instead of responding in the moment.

If an unexpected caller claims to be your bank, the police or another organisation, use a trusted number to contact the organisation yourself.

Your history

Screened calls stay understandable afterwards

Instead of a list of mystery numbers, your screening history helps you remember who called and what they wanted.

See the useful part at a glance

Each screened call can show the caller, the time and a short preview of the screening response. Open it when you want the full detail.

  • Useful transcript previews
  • Verified business identity when available
  • Clear separation between contacts and screened callers

Privacy by design

Your normal conversations stay private

Call Screening is for unknown callers. It does not turn your ordinary phone calls into transcripts.

What stays on your phone

  • Your contacts stay on your handset
  • Saved contacts continue to ring through normally
  • Your normal conversations are not sent to Guardians

What happens to screening audio

  • Only the unknown caller’s screening response is processed
  • The response is turned into text for your phone
  • Caller audio is held temporarily while it is securely delivered
  • Once your phone confirms receipt, the server copy is deleted
Important distinction: the transcript is the unknown caller’s answer to the screening prompt. Who’s Calling is not listening to or transcribing your normal conversations.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Will people in my contacts be screened?

No. Your saved contacts ring through normally. Call Screening is designed for numbers you don’t know.

What does the caller hear?

They are told they have reached a call-screening service and are asked their name and why they are calling.

What do I receive after the call is screened?

You can see the caller’s number, when the call happened and a transcription of what the caller said during screening. If the number matches a verified business, that identity can be shown too.

Do you upload my address book?

No. Your contacts stay on your phone. Who’s Calling uses them locally so people you already know can ring normally.

Do you keep the caller’s recording on the server?

The caller’s screening audio is held temporarily while it is securely delivered to your phone. Once your phone confirms receipt, the server copy is deleted.

Does Call Screening include Guardian?

No. Call Screening is the individual protection tier. Guardian is the next level and includes Call Screening plus the ability to share screened-call alerts with trusted Guardians.

Does it cost anything to be someone else’s Guardian?

No. Being invited to act as someone else’s Guardian is free.
